
The Golden Calf is a satirical novel by Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov, and a sequel to The Twelve Chairs. The plot centers on the adventures of the con artist Ostap Bender, who, along with his companions, attempts to get rich by deceiving Koreiko, an underground millionaire. The novel brilliantly satirizes the vices of Soviet society in the 1930s and is considered one of the masterpieces of Russian satirical literature.
