This book recounts how a small group of professional assassins emerged in Donbas, tasked with “clearing” the region of field commanders undesirable to the Kremlin—and how these mercenaries transformed into a parallel army that eventually staged a revolt. Its authors are journalists Ilya Barabanov, who was among the first to learn about the existence of the PMC, and Denis Korotkov, who revealed the connection between the group and “Putin's chef,” Yevgeny Prigozhin.
