The Book of the City of Ladies is a famous work of medieval literature, written at the beginning of the 15th century. It is one of the first feminist works in European history, in which the author creates an allegorical city populated by outstanding women of the past and present. Christine de Pizan argues against the misogyny of her time, proving the intellectual and moral capabilities of women through examples of historical and mythological heroines.
