“Filonov: A Guide to the Black Paths” is offered to readers by Maria Rakhmaninova—a Doctor of Philosophical Sciences and researcher of the philosophy of anarchism. In this work, a philosophical and political perspective is applied for the first time to the aesthetic system of analytical art, a methodology partially developed in her previous monograph, “Power and Body.” The paths for delving into the world of one of the strangest artists of the 20th century are this time literally oriented toward the “back door”: toward that latent acratic (and sometimes openly anarchist) tonality which invariably escapes researchers’ attention, yet which is so clearly interwoven into the theory and practice of Pavel Filonov's artistic language.
