Book in Russian

"The Tale of Tsar Saltan" is one of A. S. Pushkin’s most famous works, written in verse form. This fairy tale tells the story of Tsar Saltan, who marries the youngest of three sisters. She gives birth to his son, Gvidon. Due to the schemes of the envious sisters and Babarikha, the mother and infant are cast into the sea in a barrel. They survive on an island where Gvidon grows up to be a mighty bogatyr, builds a city, and becomes its ruler. After various miraculous transformations and adventures, Gvidon reunites with his father, and the wicked relatives receive their just deserts.
