Venedikt Erofeev’s cult poem *Moscow–Petushki* is one of the most significant works of Russian literature of the second half of the 20th century. The book is the confessional monologue of the alcoholic Venichka, who travels by commuter train from Moscow to Petushki to meet his beloved. This edition is supplemented with commentary by Eduard Vlasov, which helps the reader to understand the numerous literary allusions, historical context, and hidden meanings of this tragicomic journey more deeply.
