
Aleksandr Isaevich Solzhenitsyn was a Russian writer, publicist, public figure, Nobel Prize laureate in Literature ("For the moral force with which he pursued the indispensable traditions of Russian literature," 1970), laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation for outstanding achievements in the field of humanitarian activity (2006), and an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
