Johann Wolfgang Goethe was a great German poet, thinker, and public figure—the master of minds of his time. This volume presents his most famous works: the tragedy “Faust” (a story about a legendary mage and necromancer, dedicated to the eternal themes of understanding life and the difficulties of the human path), the novel “The Sorrows of Young Werther” (a tragic story of a young bourgeois who found no response to his feelings and was rejected by society), the epic poem “Hermann and Dorothea,” as well as selected poems. All works are accompanied by illustrations by 19th-century German artists Richard Brend'amour and Franz Xaver Simm.
