
Vladimir Nabokov’s novel Camera Obscura tells the story of Bruno Krechmar, a German art critic who falls in love with the young and cynical Magda, an usherette at a cinema. Consumed by passion, he leaves his family for her, but loses his sight in a car accident. Unaware of Magda’s betrayal with the young artist Robert Horn, the blind Krechmar becomes the victim of their cruel deception. The novel explores themes of passion, deception, and moral blindness.
